Volunteers in Patrol

Our neighbors patrol our streets in their own cars, marked with our magnetic VIP logos and flashing amber lights. This one is on Wild Valley. Wave, "Thanks" when you see them.

The VIP program is made up of volunteers who live here in our neighborhood and are trained by the Dallas Police Department. Other than the ability to pass a background check by DPD, all that is required to be a VIP patroller is to attend six hours of training at The Dallas Police Department.

No amount of time available for service is too little or too much—we need every patrol hour we can apply to the safety of the neighborhood.

Several VIP Training Classes Each Year

Typically, a three-day session is held from 7:00pm to 9:30pm on three nights in one week,  and a one-day session is on Saturday from 9:15am to 4:30pm. All meet at the Northeast Patrol Division Substation, 9915 E. Northwest Hwy.

There will be announcement prior to each class, listing the requirements and the deadline for submitting an application and other required documents. These announcements will be made on Nextdoor.com and through the MPUM neighborhood email system.
