Crime Watch & Police Reports

Boris-the-Burgular-84The MPUM Crime Watch receives and distributes reports of suspicious behavior in the neighborhood, reports official police activity in the area, and conveys important crime fighting techniques and habits that we can use to better protect our families and neighbors.

Crime Watch reports are made by postings on this web site and in our newsletter. More immediate postings and online conversations will be found on our Nextdoor.com site, which we encourage everyone to join. Occasionally, door-to-door notices are used. But the fastest and most effective medium used for Crime Watch reporting and coordination is email—via the MPUM neighborhood email list.

Graphic Crime Maps

There are two online mapping services that will show you a graphical views of police records of crimes in Dallas. With both, you can zoom in to just this area.

One of these is sponsored by the Dallas Police Department and has some good analytical imaging overlays. Go to raidsonline.com.

The other is very similar but seems to show slightly different data, making it an also-worth-checking source. You can find it at crimemapping.com.

Real-Time Maps

In addition to those two maps for viewing police reports, there is a great map on the Dallas Morning News’ site that shows real-time locations of police units on top-priority calls, even before the crime reports for these calls are filed by the officers on the scenes. You find this at dallasnews.com/news/crime/crime-map. The map also gives you access to a similar real-time map of Dallas Fire and Rescue calls underway.
